Call it bread

Synopsis:   Call It Bread is a reflective, metaphor-rich song about the stories we tell ourselves to keep hope alive. Through images of extinguished lamps, broken compasses, dry wells and barren fields, it explores why people continue to trust failed ideas, harmful relationships and empty promises. Rather than judging, the song gently asks whether we cling to the familiar because it comforts us—or because we no longer know how to question it. You still try to light the lamp that has long gone out. You still mistake an extinguished flame for light. You place your trust in the very hand that struck you. You still believe silent prayers will somehow work. Call it bread. Just call it bread. (An ironic refrain meaning: give it whatever comforting name you like.)

You're On The List (Panopticon Boogie)

Synopsis: You're on the List (Panopticon Boogie)  is a satirical country-folk song about life in the age of surveillance capitalism. Inspired by Jeremy Bentham's famous Panopticon, it explores how smartphones, algorithms, smart devices and social media have turned the world's biggest prison into something we willingly carry in our pockets. Humorous on the surface but darker underneath, the song asks who is really watching—and why the system seems so good at tracking consumers, yet so poor at seeing those most in need. Lyrics I woke up this morning, grabbed my phone to say hey  The algorithm already knew what I'd eat today  My fridge is talking to my TV, Lord they're getting along  Google heard me humming and it finished my song!  Bentham had a vision back in 1791  Never thought we'd build it just for fun!  Somebody's always watching, hey hey hey!  Every click and every step along the way  Your face, your food, your feelings — honey nothing's ...

Behta Jaaye (Go with the Flow)

Synopsis:  This song, explores themes of fate, illusion, and surrender by using the metaphor of the Brownian motion to show that the current in the river drive our life, despite our personal efforts. It encourages finding joy, practising humility and empathy. Lyrics Hum kahein hum chalaate naav, Hum hi pakde steering, full of swagger and swaag, But it's the current, girl, doing all the work, Jahaan dhaare ki marzi, that's where we go, oh yeah! Behta jaaye, behta jaaye Phool ki dhool sa udta jaaye Naav mein chhed hai, dance anyway Dhaara le jaaye jahaan le jaaye Kaun chune apni maa ki god? Kaun chune apna desh, apna god? Some get roti, some get only dreams Yeh sab to hai - dhaare ka scheme Behta jaaye, behta jaaye Phool ki dhool sa udta jaaye Naav mein chhed hai, dance anyway Dhaara le jaaye jahaan le jaaye Chalta chal! Chalta chal! Chalta chal, oh Sabar karo, sabar karo, sabar karo, oh Khidki khuli mile - jump through quick But leave your ahankar at the door, don't be slick...

Rules Based Order

Synopsis:   By contrasting the different football penalties handed to Jarell Quansah and Folarin Balogun, these lyrics highlight a stark double standard where the "rule of law" applies differently based on who you are. The song expands this sports-field injustice into a global critique, drawing lines to wealthy draft-dodging presidents, UN veto powers, and political lobbying. It argues that modern society does not operate on a neutral, "rules-based order," but rather bends the system to favor the elite. Ultimately, the recurring phrase "show me the man, I'll show you the rule" serves as a cynical reminder that true equality under the law is an illusion reserved for the powerful. Lyrics Jarell Quansah sees a red card Sits out the next two games Balogun sees the same red card Starts the next match instead Is this the rule of law Or rules-based order Or show me the man I'll show you the rule Vietnam called up the draft Sent the poor and not the rich C...
